The last year has been a year of many firsts for FSU Mock Trial. A year ago, we qualified for our first National Championship Tournament,11 months ago, we won our first National Championship, 7 months ago, we fielded 4 competition teams for the first time, 2 months ago, we hosted our first Regional Tournament, 1 month ago, we qualified 2 teams to ORCS for the first time.

But this year, something truly special happened. For the first time, FSU is sending TWO teams to the National Championship Tournament, something only 3 other schools in the country can claim. FSU Gold went undefeated with an 8-0 record, earning the first bid, and FSU Garnet went 6-2, earning the final bid ( in one of the worst/greatest closing ceremony moments in mock trial history). FSU Gold took home 4 individual awards, and Garnet took home 3. Emma Allen (x2), Bola Olofin, and Matthew Covert each earned outstanding attorney awards, and Obi Oneyozili, Greyson Wallis, and Daniel Kroepsch all earned outstanding witness awards.

Everyone in our program deserves credit for this accomplishment, but I just want to mention four people who have set the standard for team leadership. Ryan Adelsperger, Bola Olofin, Alex Cuculici, and Matthew Covert have done a magnificent job leading their teams together since September, and are a prime example of how hard work and dedication can make great leaders and great mockers. The Championship Trophy may have a second term in the 850.
