"Donors don’t give to institutions, they invest in ideas and people in whom they believe”

Anyone who wants to make a significant impact on the FSU Undergraduate Mock Trial program is invited to contribute financially.
Travel to invitational tournaments during the fall is critical to a team’s success in the spring national competition. A mock trial season is very expensive for a relatively small, student-run organization. Our annual budget runs between $30,000 and $35,000. In the early days of the program we could afford only the regional-level competition, but that is like skipping the regular season games and going straight to the playoffs.
We pride ourselves in being thrifty. We carpool to tournaments where we sleep four to a room, travel by van to nearly all tournaments, collect dues from all our members, and our coaches are all unpaid volunteers, yet we take on and defeat teams with paid coaches, major law firm sponsorships, and cushy flights to and from the tournament. While we have some financial support from FSU and its Student Government Association, money is still a constraint as we seek to improve an already successful program. This year we fielded an unprecedented six teams as we strive to make sure everyone who is committed to participating in mock trial gets that opportunity. While training new members and polishing returners, we’ve set our sights on a lofty goal: winning a second National Championship, something only six universities in the nation have accomplished.
This is truly a mock trial program the people of Tallahassee and the alumni of FSU can be proud of. If you or your law firm can contribute even a small amount, it will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
Thank you again. All of us here at FSU Mock Trial deeply appreciate your generosity.
